Limiting A Limitless God

The Ludacris song "Move...get out the way, get out the way" (yes..I obviously had to edit that a bit) is one that I think of when it comes to certain people having to "move" and "get out the way" of our dreams, visions and prayers. While I truly don't believe intentional, sometimes others can project fear over our future plans, sometimes even via unwarranted advice. Whether it's for the intent of sparing us from making a mistake or wasting time, or because they knew someone else that tried and it didn't turn out well, others can speak words that can result in second guessing or flat out leaving plans alone in fear of the outcome.
If you follow Oprah's story, you would know that her Father attempted to discourage her from leaving her job as a news caster in Maryland as that alone was a huge opportunity for a black woman from the south at the time. "You're going to leave behind a job that pays $22,000?!?" he told her in disbelief. He told her she would never make that kind of money again being a black woman and she was crazy to give it up. At the time, her goal was to make $40,000 by the age of 40. By the age of 32, she became a millionaire. The $22,000 a year salary that her Father told her that she would make again is now less than makes in an HOUR.
I'm sure that her Father was only trying to prevent his daughter from giving up what he saw as one of the biggest opportunities of her life. What he instead did was almost keep the world from seeing one of the most influential entertainment success stories of all time.
When it comes to our dreams, calling, vision and purpose, we have to protect them at all costs. When you know your purpose, you will find yourself being put to the test in taking chances and making sacrifices that may not make sense to others. You may find yourself having to tell people in your life to "move", trusting that their good intentions would only keep you from a bigger purpose and plan.
In Matthew 16 and Luke 5, we read how Peter almost kept Jesus from the cross due to what he thought was "helpful advice". Imagine what that would have meant for us if Peter was successful in his attempts. We wouldn't receive salvation through Christ as our savior, simply because Peter didn't realize the impact of the purpose Jesus dying on the cross would have. When God calls us to do something, just as he called Jesus to serve and die on Earth, we like Jesus can be obedient in spite of what others say or think about us. Don't let anyone be a stumbling block, even if they have good intentions. Stay focused on the path God has called you to take remember even Jesus had to rebuke his own disciple that did not understand. Our God is limitless, so don't let anyone limit the call and plans he has for your life.
Don’t let anyone keep you from doing what Gods spoken for you to do. While God absolutely speaks through others, he will speak words of counsel, encouragement, and even warning that comes from wisdom, not doubt. Pray for the gift of discernment to distinguish between words of wisdom and words that stem from uncertainty and fear. Pray to also have that same gift of discernment to quiet thoughts of doubt and fear that you speak to yourself. When God has given you a responsibility, purpose, calling or task, trust that the limits have been removed and that nothing can stop Gods plan. Whether it’s to parent, be a spouse, business owner, step away from your career to pursue a passion, heal from a diagnosis, relocate, or even leave a relationship, trust that if God has called you to do it, he will give you the strength and wisdom needed to fulfill. Remove any limitations from the limitless God and believe through him you can do anything.
